It has been a while since I last posted a true blog entry. A lot has been going on in my life and I just have been trying to figure out what directions I really need to go in. I knew this year was going to bring many changes, but the changes that I thought would happen are not the ones that seem to be happening in my life.

For Christmas, my parents give me a year’s subscription to Netflix. The main reason they give me this is because I do not have cable and this allows me the ability to watch something on my computer by streaming movies over the internet. Yeah, I do get a movie by mail, but that was not the main reason for this present. The reason I bring this up is I am sitting here streaming a documentary called “Lord, Save Us from Your Followers” and one of the individuals interviewed in the movie mentioned the above quote by St. Augustine. This quote got me thinking about the Church’s current state as well as how this relates to being gay and Catholic.

Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan Speaks of Gays and Hell
Friday, December 4th, 2009Today I was surfing around the Internet and came across an interesting article about a statement by Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan of Mexico. According to the Brisbane Times, an Australian newspaper, Cardinal Barragan stated “Transsexuals and homosexuals will never enter the kingdom of heaven and it is not me who says this, but St Paul”. He later said, “People are not born homosexual, they become homosexual, for different reasons: education issues or because they did not develop their own identity during adolescence. Perhaps they aren’t guilty but by acting against the dignity of the body they will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven”.
